NANA: 2
ME: How many shoes are in a pair of shoes?
NANA: 2
ME: How many socks are in a pair of socks
NANA: 2
ME: So, how many are in a pair?
NANA: She stares again
ME: Two honey, there are two.
NANA: No mommy, now you have six all together.

Me: "Go clean your room right now, Kaylie. I'm not asking you again."
Kaylie: "I don't want to clean my room! You're not the boss of me, mom!"
Me: "I am the boss of you and you will clean your room or you'll have a time-out AND still clean your room."
Kaylie: "When I grow up I'm going to be the boss of you and give you a million time-outs!!! And make you eat broccoli...then you'll be sorry."

Today we took Zoe and her friend Stephanie out to lunch.

Me: "Who wants to go to McDonald's?"
Zoe: "Nooooooooooo!"
Stephanie (simultaneously): "Yessssssss!"
dramatic pause before Stephanie gets with Zoe's program.
Stephanie: "Nooooooooooooo!(then whispering to Zoe) you're joking right?"

Asher: I'm hungry. Can I have lunch?
Me: yep, just a minute let me finish wrapping this gift and I will get you some lunch. Hey, do you know who's coming tonight?
Asher: who?
Me: Santa! And we are going to put out milk and cookies and he's going to bring you lots of presents!
Asher: is he going to bring me lunch?
